The hockey clubs of Blueharts and Stevenage got down and dirty with a number of big derby clashes in the latest round of fixtures in the East League.
In total, there were four matches between them and there will be another two on Saturday as well.
And the quartet of games, all in the ladies' divisions of the league, saw the clubs share the wins equally.
Stevenage's first team won 4-2 away to Blueharts' seconds, Ally Antoniou and Meme Brown scoring for the home club, and there was another away win as the third team from the Hitchin club beat Stevenage seconds 3-1.
Skipper Rachel Campbell led the way for Blueharts with the first two goals while Josie Layton added the third.
Stevenage took the honours as their fourth team beat Blueharts fifths 1-0 at home.
Tania Makumire took the player of the match award for Stevenage while Emilia Saul was the stand-out performer for Blueharts.
The winner though came with 10 minutes to go.
Wunmi Omolade took possession on the edge of the D and and thumped shot found the backboard.
Stevenage then saw off two late short corners from Blueharts to seal the victory.
Blueharts sixths completed the fixtures with a 2-0 win at Stevenage fifths.
In the other ladies' fixtures, Blueharts' first lost 4-0 to City of Peterborough but Kat McLarty got three and Amy Williams two as the fourths beat Harpenden 5-0.
Goalkeeper Tasmin Taylor and Francesca Woolley shone on their debuts for the sevenths who beat Chiltern 1-0 through an Imogen Ryden goal.
The one other game for Stevenage ladies saw their thirds lose 3-0 at Rickmansworth.
Stevenage's men had just one win to celebrate from their three games.
That saw the seconds win 3-2 at Shefford & Sandy, although the Bedfordshire club got their revenge as they beat Stevenage's firsts 5-2.
The other game saw the thirds lose 7-1 to Southgate Adelaide.
For Blueharts men, there was a clean sweep of successes.
The firsts had a comfortable 5-2 win over Old Loughtonians to remain in the top four in the Premier Division.
Nick Ross scored twice, with Graham Burr, Adam Wells and Alex Krekis adding the others.
Youngster Jamie Williams was on target as the seconds edged Luton Town 2-1 to seal their first win in three games and stay five points clear at the top of Division Two South West.
Dan Harvey scored the only goal as the thirds beat Vauxhall 1-0.
That has pushed them to fourth, one place behind the fourths who won 2-1 at Rickmansworth on Saturday, with Ollie Wright among the scorers.
Rory Williams and Pete Mitchell both scored two apiece as the in-form fifths bounced back from conceding after 42 seconds to beat Rickmansworth 5-1.
Ben Hammond added the other.
