Three players from Letchworth Rink Hockey Club has spent the summer representing England at the European Championships.
Lily-Rose Chandler was part of the U17 female squad in Correggio, Italy, with Mackenzie Allen and Charlie Anthony-Sharpe being selected in the male team.
With teams from Andorra, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Spain and Portugal it was always going to be a tough tournament.
The men would eventually finish sixth after a 5-2 play-off defeat, although Allen had a good tournament with four goals.
The ladies though were in inspired form as they reached the final.
Chandler scored in game one as they fought back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with tournament favourites Portugal, and there was a second goal for the Letchworth ace as England won 3-2 against Germany, the winner coming seven minutes from the end.
There were 13 seconds left in game three when England grabbed another winner for another 3-2 success, this time against France.
That meant a place in the final against Portugal and it proved to be a game too far as the favourites ran out 7-1 victors.
There was plenty though to be proud of for Letchworth coach Martin Thorogood.
He said: "For a small amateur sport, taking on some of the best teams and taking the silver medal to be classed as the second best team at U17 level in Europe is a massive achievement.
"It will inspire current and future players for years to come."
