Stotfold's first appearance in the FA Trophy ended at the first stage - but only after a narrow loss away to Redbridge.

The Eagles were beaten 1-0 courtesy of a thunderbolt from Joseph Elliott on 20 minutes, the left-back getting high up the pitch, cutting inside and then letting fly beyond the helpless Liam Gooch.

But the visitors had chances of their own with Henry Snee, Lewis Franklin and Kade Bagge all denied one way or another.

Redbridge did hit the post in added time as Stotfold committed men forward but the one goal proved enough.

Brett Donnolly's men are back in Southern League Division One Central action on Saturday when they go to AFC Dunstable.

The Canaries' U18 side came through a thrilling FA Youth Cup tie against Royston Town - winning 5-3 at home.

They took the lead through skipper Bentley Assiedou on 10 minutes but Royston then hit back with two quick goals of their own.

By half-time though Hitchin were back in front.

Assiedou converted a penalty after he was fouled in the box and then Gassem Benelghazi connected at the back post to a Henry Silver corner.

The Crows equalised again after both sides had created numerous chances but a second penalty gave the young Canaries the lead, and Assiedou a hat-trick.

He then cracked his fourth of the contest in stoppage time to send Hitchin into a first qualifying round game at Kempston Rovers.

There was a nine-goal thriller in the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division as Baldock Town beat Crawley Green 6-3.

Brandon Carney, Owen Robertson and Dempsey Thomas all scored in the opening eight minutes and Jude White, Kit Brown and Troy Tizard-Cleghorn chipped in with the others.

Arlesey Town, however, fell to a 1-0 loss at St Panteleimon.

In Division One, Letchworth Eagles got their first success of the season, winning 2-0 at home to Buckingham.
