North Herts Road Runners finished the Midweek Road Race League season on a high - winning the final round at home.

The Squirrels claimed top spot in the Division One fixture thanks to the turnout of 59 of their runners.

Held at Fairlands Valley Park, the club's men took top spot while the women were second.

That wasn't enough unfortunately to prevent St Albans Striders from winning the title but it still delighted team captain John Auld.

He said: "The team spirit was fabulous with Squirrels turning out consistently to run and support each other and the club.

"Winning the season finale at our host race was fantastic and solidified us as runners up in Division One."

Katie Harbon was second in the individual women's race, Rhia Botha and Astrid McKeown second and third for the club and both inside the top 20.

For the men, Tom Webb was third with team-mates James Fox and Ben Hadman directly behind in fourth and fifth.

Mike Roberts also made the top 10 with a seventh-placed finish.
