Stevenage Striders took over Stevenage Parkrun - with club members volunteering at every position around the course to give something back to a very popular event.

They also took the time to get out and about a day later, taking on the Welwyn 10K at its new off-road base of Panshanger Park.

Helder Soares finished in 47 minutes 35 seconds, Paula Heyes in 1:23:56 and Penny Fanthorpe in 1:29:57.

Closer to home Stacie Whitelaw and Alun Watkins took part in the Rainbow Run at the Ridlins track in Stevenage while four Striders took on the hills of the Hitchin Hard Half Marathon

Remy Knowles finished in 2:33:35 with, Marc Hagland, Angie Hayes and Chrissie Thomas all within the next 44 seconds.

Andrea Skidmore took on the 10k at Hitchin, finishing in 1:04:29.

Andy Liddle of Stevenage Phoenix managed a PB at the Rutland Water 10k, clocking 48:25.

Ashley Bates was at the Silsoe Stride 10k, finishing in 1:02:11 while the quickest parkrun from the 11 who took part at five different venues was James Woodcock at Stevenage.

Chris Leigh was first in his age group at Gadebridge in Hemel Hempstead.

Seven Fairlands Valley Spartans were at St Albans for the Summer Solstice 10k, a race that started at 8pm on the longest day.

Chloe Chapman managed a PB of 53:03, improving by almost two minutes, while Matt Tutton bettered his best by 56 seconds, moving it to 55:17.

The fastest from Fairlands Valley Spartans was David Pattman, 83rd out of the 532 finishers in 44:19 with the fastest female being Harriet Smith, 33rd woman in 49:12.

Steven Dobner (47:45), Mo Warrilow (52:32) and Jim Brown (55:21), part of four events in five days for him, were the others.

Dobner also set a parkrun PB with 24:47 at Wimpole.

Yuko Gordon won gold in the women's 65-plus category at the British Masters Multi-terrain 30K Championship.

Held at the Cyclopark in Gravesend, she was 180th overall out of more than 400 finishers.

North Herts Road Runners had four on almost home turf when they took on the Hitchin Hard 10k.

And they had a winner too, Rhia Botha coming in fourth overall in a time of 47:44 to claim the ladies' race.

Nathaniel Rosa also made the podium, coming third in 44:11.

Caroline Thrussell (54:16) and David Weston (55:06) were the others and the club would have had James Dalton as a finisher had he not headed off down the half-marathon course.

He had been fourth at that point but pressed on regardless and ran 17k in 1:20:05.

Elwyn Howell completed the Stevenage Rainbow 10k in 46:03.
