Stevenage fans have been given an early Easter present after Terence Vancooten was declared ready to face Northampton Town.

The 25-year-old has been missing since picking up a hamstring injury in the FA Cup fourth-round loss at Stoke City at the end of January.

He ended up missing 10 games altogether while was an unused substitute for the trip to Carlisle United.

And in that time Boro picked up just 12 points.

"He's trained all week," said manager Steve Evans with a grin. "He's fit and he's a big player for us.

"No-one [in the division] is missing as many players as we have been but my motto has always been that will continue to focus on who we have got.

"We have focused a bit on Terence and we left him out deliberately on Saturday to put some extra work into him.

"He did some of that after the Salford game at the stadium and he bounced in on Monday and declared himself ready to go.

"He's available for selection."

Evans is confident there should be no further issues either, despite five of the squad being sent home on Thursday.

"They were just under the weather," said the gaffer.

"If it had been Tuesday, they would have trained, but given it's Thursday, the advice from our internal medical staff and doctor was to let them go home and give them a plan.

"The good news is they've all separately called in to the coaching staff and they've gone through the work and they're already feeling better.

"So we'll come in in the morning and we don't expect that to be to be a problem.

"The final part of the planning process will be completed [on Friday]. [Thursday] was a bit more of a down day as we worked really hard on Monday and Tuesday to be ready."

Saturday's game at Sixfields pits the second-placed Cobblers against third-placed Boro.
