Hitchin Sunday League side FC Emperors Head are through to the Herts Sunday Junior Cup final.

They were one of four from the league competing in two county competitions and earned their spot in the final after beating fellow Division One side AC Malone 2-0.

Malone’s Kane Stanton had an opportunity to open the scoring when he went through on goal but saw his effort cleared off the line and from there Emperors Head took control of the game.

A near post flick from a corner saw Kyle Cook give them the lead and they doubled that advantage when Leon Tyler smashed in a loose ball after a free-kick had been blocked.

Malone had a big chance to reduce the deficit at the start of the second half but Ben Fairey’s shot was saved and the Emperors saw the rest of the game out.

They will play Glen Sports Social in the final after they stopped it being an all-Hitchin final, beating Fairfield Park 4-2.

The fourth team involved were Engineers Arms in the semi final of the Beds Sunday Junior Cup.

And after a 2-2 draw in normal time with Ebony, they suffered agony in the penalty shoot-out, going down 4-3.

In Division One, Coach & Horses increased their lead to 10 points after a 1-1 draw with Chells Rovers, a result which puts Chells third.

Atletico 99 came out 5-3 winners over Ashwell in a superb game while St Ippolyts beat Buffs by the odd goal in five.

The Cock won 3-1 at home against Sandon.

In Division Two, Hitchin Rovers missed the chance to reduce the gap at the top when they were beaten 2-1 at home by Saint Evenage.

Troll Campbell and FC Inter Malone picked up a point each following a  3-3 draw while North Baldock moved up to second after a 5-0 win over Feed Up Warm Up.

They are four points behind the leaders but with three games in hand.

A double header between Almond Tree and Khoi Khoi brought six points for the former.

The first game ended in a comprehensive 8-0 win for Almond Tree but the second was much closer, the winning margin just 2-1.

Another double header between Squirrel Taverners and GSS ended with Taverners winning both, 2-0 and 1-0.
