Stevenage are poised to dip back into the transfer market for an emergency loan - if news of Jokull Andresson's injury is as bad as feared.

The goalkeeper was caught in a mid-air collision at Newport that forced a half-time substitution.

Manager Steve Evans was furious that the challenge went unpunished with his final words to the referee as he left Rodney Parade being "I just hope this wouldn’t be a big problem for us".

News of that is expected any time soon.

The Boro boss said: "He is going for a scan this morning. We had an X-ray done yesterday and we are waiting on the results.

"If it is a problem, we’ll go into the market. We’ve got permission from the Football League if he is going to be out.

"We’ll know soon.

"I’ve spoken to a couple of managers higher up than us and both have made goalkeeping options available to us.

"And before our fans get concerned, if [Jokull] has a problem, we will have announced something by tea-time."

The injury to the Icelandic stopper meant an earlier-than-planned debut for Adam Przybek, himself drafted in at short notice after the injury to Taye Ashby-Hammond and the departure of Aaron Chapman.

That 45-minute display made the boss happy.

Evans said: "I’m pleased for Adam and that is his Football League debut. He has good experience of being an EFL number two, he’s been around it and seen how it works.

"And he was good, everything he had to do, he did very well.

"His kicking was good and I was asking [Carl Piergianni] what the communication behind him was like and he said it was good.

"From that point of view but we obviously need more than one goalkeeper."
