The final game of the Herts Sunday Junior Cup saw Hitchin Sunday League get another side through to the last eight.

The league had already seen four of its teams reach the quarter-final and Fairfield Park made it five by scoring five, beating BWSC of the Herts Ad Sunday League in St Albans 5-2.

Kane Dougherty was the Fairfield hero with a hat-trick, getting the first of the early in the first half before Carlton Phillips made it two.

Both goals came courtesy of superb corners delivered by Sam Day.

BWSC though fought back and a double from Alex Garvey, one each either side of the interval, set up an exciting final 26 minutes.

The pivotal moment though was a penalty awarded for a foul on Kai Reilly that was duly thumped home by Dougherty.

That took the sting out of the visitors and after Tom Gibson made it four, Dougherty completed his treble with an excellent solo goal.

Some of the league's own cups have already reached the last eight.

Arlesey Town won 4-2 at home against fellow Division One side Atletico 99 in the Carl Couzens Challenge Cup while Coach & Horses saw off a plucky effort from GSS of Division Two, winning 3-1.

Another all-Division One clash between AC Malone and The Cock saw all five goals come in the first period, Malone taking the spoils 4-1.

Lewis Archer had already smacked a shot off the post when he set-up Eduardo Garcia for 1-0.

The Cock equalised after that but then AC took charge.

Archer made it 2-1 with a near-post flick from a Will Payne corner and Josh Mayes' low drive was turned in by Ben Montanaro.

Daril Ngwala then set up Will Payne to tuck away a fourth.

In the quarter-final of the George John Cup, Division Two side Almond Tree were beaten narrowly by FC Emperors Head from Division One, 1-0.

League action was dominated by double headers.

Buffs were without a point going into the games with Ashwell but a 2-1 victory was followed by a 2-0 success to move them off the foot of the table and above their opponents.

Sandon and FC St Johns shared the spoils in their two games, St Johns winning the first game 2-1 but Sandon triumphing 2-0 in the second.

Troll Campbell enjoyed two big wins over Feed Up Warm Up in Division Two, winning 6-1 and 7-0, to move up to fifth in the table.,

The final double header of the day saw North Herts Hatters face Kimpton and again there was one win each.

Hatters took the three points in game one with a 1-0 victory but Kimpton secured their first points of the campaign by winning 3-2 in the second.

It was second against first as Hitchin Rovers faced North Baldock and the gap is now four points after leaders Baldock won 4-0.

Lea Sports PSG were at home against Squirrel Taverners and picked up a 2-1 win.

They did it after going a goal down, Squirrel taking the lead after an Evan Bennett shot was pushed into the path of Alex Tiplady to slot home.

Sports equalised though and with Squirrel's keeper injuring himself, midfielder Conor Bennett had to go in goal.

He did alright but the Taverners ran out of steam and a nice move was finished off to give Lea Sports the three points.

The final game of the day saw FC Kings lose 2-1 at home to Stotfold Juniors.
