It was a superb day for Katie Harbon of North Herts Road Runners at the Bedford 10 - not only claiming the win but also smashing the club record.
She led the Squirrels home in a time of one hour 28 seconds and thanked the course layout which she said had "virtually no ups or downs".
Team-mate Andreea Wiesl-Shaw also took part in the race, which comprised a single-lap course that starts on the Bedford Embankment and finishes with a lap of Priory Park, and she too got a PB, finishing in 1:35:22.
She aid: "It was a lovely morning for running and the course is beautiful, great fun to run."
Elwyn Howell continued his recent string of strong performances with a PB of 1:16:21, also finishing third in his age category, while Melanie Flynn added to the bounty of new PBs with 1:26:21.
She was also full of praise for the event, saying: "I’d highly recommend this race which was a nice flat, traffic-free course with some scenic riverside paths."
Other squirrels who completed the race were Dave Braybrook (1:17:32), Anna Gibson (1:26:36), and Bev Rimmer (1:35:04).
