North Herts Road Runners brought their 2022 year to a close with races at Buntingford and Ely.

The Buntingford 10k on December 30 saw 16 squirrels take part.

Always a popular event, this year's race was held in very wet and blustery conditions but it didn't stop ladies' team captain Tash Pitman leading the club home in one hour 11 minutes 19 seconds.

Five of the squad dipped below 80 minutes while of the rest there was a PB for Mel Flynn in 1:27:12.

The last race of the year for the club though came a day later with the Ely New Year’s Eve 10k, back for the first time since the pandemic.

Karen Dodsworth and Brian Judkins took on the challenge with the highlight being a piper at the top of the hill with 1km to go.

Dodsworth finished in 54:23 while Judkins clocked 1:13:31.

Parkruns are another popular go to with races this year on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Anna Klucinka (22:50) and James Dalton (23:46) led the NHRR troops in at the home run at Letchworth on New Year's Eve, with the latter also first across the line 24 hours later in a quicker 23:14.

Rachel Arnott was the first lady Squirrel on January 1 in a time of 23:56.

Kris Whitmore was the first across the line for the club in Stevenage on both days, with times of 19:21 and 19:15.

The first Stevenage race of 2023 also saw a PB for Elwyn Howell of 21:46.
