He ran his 52nd marathon of 2022 at the Phoenix Christmas Advent event at Walton-on-Thames last week, consisting of eight out and back laps along the tow path between Sudbury and Walton.

And he finished in 4:56.19 while raising over £1,000 for the appeal.

Club members tackled three different parkruns on Saturday, with Brian Stapleton clocking 30.06 at Stevenage, while Ashley Bates (27.37) and Gemma Holloway (29.51) went to Milton Keynes.

Chris Leigh went to Dunstable Downs as part of his challenge to complete 50 different parkruns and finished second in his category in 28.55.

The Phoenix Foundation programme is an eight-week training programme taking non-runners to complete a 5k.

The next programme starts from January 4 at Hampson Park, Stevenage (6.45pm) and is totally free, you simply turn up and join in.
