League action filled the Hitchin Sunday League this week with a full fixture list and all teams playing.

In Division One The Cock won 2-1 at home against AC Malone.

They hit the post in the first minute but AC Malone dominated for the rest of the half and took the lead when Ben Montanaro chased a ball down the right wing to cross for Will Payne to bury into the bottom corner.

After the half-time break it was an even contest before a Malone defender was shown a red card for a sliding challenge on the hour mark.

Within five minutes of the dismissal The Cock equalised following a flick on from a corner.

Even with 10 men Malone’s had chances to go back in front, including a penalty which was missed half way through the second half after The Cock goalkeeper took out Malone striker Eduardo.

The missed chances came back to haunt Malone though as five minutes from the end of the game The Cock got the decisive and winning goal with a strike from outside the box that found the bottom corner.

Sandon and FC Emperors Head are both now level on nine points following a 3-2 win for Emperors.

Fairfield Park were at home against FC St Johns and moved up the table with a comfortable 5-1 win.

Danny Pye got Fairfield Park off to a flyer for them only to be pegged back straight away from a corner.

Kane Dougherty restored Fairfield’s lead slotting home coolly from the penalty spot.

The big moment in the game came when St Johns were awarded a penalty of their own but goalkeeper Harry Wilkinson made the save.

This gave Fairfield the confidence boost they needed and Alfie Cooper soon made it 3-1.

Carlton Phillips used his height advantage to nod in a fourth before Tristan Potkins completed the rout with a Maradona-type dribble and finish.

Coach & Horses stay in first place after a 5-2 victory in their home game against St Ippolyts.

Engineers Arms keep the pressure on them at the top of the table with a 4-1 win away to bottom of the league Buffs.
