A flat and quick course at the Hatfield 5 mile race brought plenty of PBs as well as county medals.

The event also doubled as the Herts Vets Championship over the distance and Fairlands Valley Spartans had a number of good results.

Jim Brown took gold in the MV70 category while Yuko Gordon took silver in the FV65 group.

The latter was also part of the women's team that claimed bronze, Georgie Hooper and Marie Colucci the other scoring members.

Hooper's time of 35 minutes 32 seconds was a PB.

Nick Gill also set a PB of 30:50 to finish as the first from FVS while other best times were achieved by Sam Simmons (33:40), Susan McAneny (39:27), Nick Kleanthous (42:19), Nicola Andersson (43:38), Matt Tutton (46:46) and Jane Wadey (52:26).

Several from North Herts Road Runners took part too and the rare opportunity to run the distance also brought them some good results.

Kris Whitmore was first home for them in a PB of 30:56 while James Keogh's 32:13 was almost identical to his time last year.

Elwyn Howell was another to record a PB of 35:33 while other squirrels who completed the race were Richard Barker (35:33), Sue Vaughan (47:10), Georgia Barker (48:28), Julie Taylor (51:14), Jane Robson (51:14), Tracey McCreath (52:24), Philip Flack (53:36), and Branka Moss (01:03:16).
