Stevenage Hockey Club's men took centre stage this week with all bar one of their four teams recording big and impressive wins.

The firsts stormed to a 3-1 success away to Welwyn Garden City in Division Two South West, a new formation laying the groundwork.

However, it was the regular suspects on target, Niall Trimble returning from injury to hit a lovely half-volley shot in the opening minute before second-half goals from Aiden Parker.

The thirds and the fourths both hit four, the former winning 4-1 away to Hertford.

Containing seven aged 50 or above, Roger Barlow bagged the first two before Simon Russell and Jonathan Swarbrick added to the tally, all before half-time.

Stevenage absorbed loads of pressure in the second period but only conceded one as they claimed a fabulous team win.

The fourths meanwhile won 4-0 at Southgate Adelaide. Alistair Aubusson hit a hat-trick and Geoff Trew got the other while Paul Hemmant kept a deserved clean sheet.

The seconds were the only side to lose, going down 5-0 at home to Bishop's Stortford.

The women didn't have a bad day either although there was a 4-0 loss for the first-team at home to Crostyx and a 2-1 reverse for the fifths at Rickmansworth, Sarah Hoar having put them in front.

However both the second and third teams won 3-1 and there was a draw for for the fourths.

The twos beat Cheshunt at home for the fourth time in a row, goals from Nicki Reynolds, Claire Weston and Chloe Jones moving them third in the Division Two South West table.

The threes meanwhile won away at Harpenden to remain unbeaten in Division 4 South West and second in the table behind Welwyn Garden City who they meet on November 19.

Julie Rhodes, Holly Manning and Kate Switters-Price got their goals.

The fourths are also undefeated this season with three wins and two draws, the latest of them 3-3 with Berkhamsted & Hemel.

Mel Retberg (two) and Laura Owen-Brown ensured another point.
