Blueharts Hockey Club had three wins, six draws and just one defeat at the weekend.

The best of the victories came from the men’s 3rds where there was a hat-trick of hat-tricks in a 9-0 win at Harpenden 2nds. Tom Lamond, Ashley Hammond and Kyle Watson each scored three.

The 1sts travelled to West Herts. Their opponents scored from a break just before half-time but in the second period Jeff Parker found Liam Connelly who deflected the ball into the goal to equalise.

The 2nds fell behind against Long Sutton before Ed Atkins and Dan Drew put them 2-1 up.

Long Sutton then struck three more times before Drew pulled one back. Paul Buckland made it 5-4, but just as they closed in on a draw Blueharts scored an own goal to give their opponents a 6-4 success.

The 4ths came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Stevenage. Paul Graves, Tim Sporle and Paul Jordan all scored.

Two goals from Dave Fleckney saw the 5ths to a 2-1 win at Stevenage, while the 6ths maintained their 100 per cent record with a 5-3 win over Harpenden 4ths. Ollie Garside, Adam Mountley, Sean Storey and two from Paul Krishman got them the win.

The ladies 2nds were at St Albans and Claire Dainton converted a penalty flick for 1-0. Tamzin Wright made it two before Sophie Taylor flicked a goal over the keeper for the third. However, St Albans scored just before half-time and got back to 3-3 by the full-time whistle.

The 3rds drew 0-0 with Harpenden 2nds while the 4ths drew 1-1 at Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead.
