A team of Year 5 and 6 students at the Robert Bloomfield Academy in Shefford emerged victorious at the Hockey County Finals at Bedford Hockey Club.
Three teams from the academy took part including the mixed team who, after winning all but one of their group matches, went on to be crowned county champions.
The Year 7 and 8 girls won all but one match in their group and finished second overall while the Year 7 and 8 boys won one, drew two and lost two in the group stages and came fourth.
To prepare for the event the girls had trained hard every Tuesday after school and the boys on a Wednesday and both had been playing friendly matches. They won all their league games to qualify for the county finals.
Head of PE at the Robert Bloomfield Academy, Sarah Robson, said: “All pupils have worked really hard in their training, friendly matches and league matches to make the county finals and we are very proud of them all.”
