Stevenage boss Dino Maamria is urging his side to build on their win over Swindon at Milton Keynes at the weekend.
Ilias Chair scored from inside his own half to help Stevenage FC secured a vital three points in the hunt for a Sky Bet League Two play-off place as they beat Swindon 2-0 at the Lamex Stadium on Tuesday night.
Alex Revell headed Boro in front just before half-time, with QPR loanee Chair scoring a superb goal from 60 yards to wrap up the win.
The win over the Robins saw tenth place Boro move to within five poins of Colchester, who occupy the final play-off spot.
Speaking after the win over Richie Wellens side, Maamria said: “I’m not going to talk about the play-offs. I’m going to talk about the next game. We’re in a good position and we’ll keep working hard.
“If we show purpose and endeavour we’ll get to where we deserve to be at the end of the season. We’ve got a big game at MK on Saturday.
“A team that we know well. We beat them here. It was probably our best game of the season.”
Maamria was pleased with the way his players repsonded after their disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Bury on Saturday.
He added: “We got what we deserved. We were determined that we weren’t going to let it affect us. I thought we played as well as we did on Saturday but against Swindon we were more clinical. That was the difference.
“We should have scored two or three in the first half. We hit the post. We were more fluid in the second half going forward but I thought my players performed brilliantly over both games.
“I’ve got to highlight Paul Farman who was outstanding. He’s had a little bit of criticism recently but he was outstanding.
“Rev[ell] earned his goal and Ronnie Henry is a club legend. He always leads by example whether he plays or not.”
