Group training runs look to be heading back but in the meantime some at Fairlands Valley Spartans are continuing to do their bit for charity.

Jim Brown is running for his mayor charities while Fiona Clarke has taken on the challenge of three marathons.

They start with the Richmond Marathon, planned for May 16 which is followed by the Peterborough Marathon a week later.

Her efforts, which are all for the East & North Herts Hospitals' Charity 25th birthday. conclude with the Manchester Marathon on October 10.

Group training is expected to restart with free pre-booked sessions from Monday, March 29. Go to for more information.

The first big actual event is the St Albans Easter 10K on Good Friday.

The club's virtual race around England, nominally starting in Bristol, has Brian White and second-placed Penny Schenkel in Essex, with just 20km separating them.

The team's total is now up to 11,107km with efforts completed by either running, walking or cycling.
