Young karter Tom Harris finished the 2009 season in style earlier this month with a hat-trick of wins at Rye House in the final round of the Hoddesdon Karting Club Championships.

Harris, who has now overcome a broken leg sustained earlier in the year, showed that he has lost none of his appetite for victory as he blitzed the rest of his competitors.

Harris came first in heat one despite starting from seventh on the grid and having to endure torrid weather conditions. He had to settle for second place in heat two when a back marker held him up late on in the race but he was back to winning ways in heat three in what was arguably his best performance of the day.

Starting from 14th on the track, Harris stayed out of trouble early on and worked his way up through the field before catching up with the leaders. Harris had just enough time to close the gap on the leading pack and showed great composure in his overtaking manoeuvres to take first place.

With two wins and a second place in the heats, Harris sat on pole in the final and was never going to let anyone past. It was a great show of dominance in the last race of his Cadet karting career and he was 11.4 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.

Harris showed he is ready to face the challenges of 2010 head on and can't wait to get to work with a new chassis with 125cc Rotax engines that will propel him up to speeds of 75mph.
