DIG out those trainers because The Comet is officially launching this year's community fun run in aid of the Garden House Hospice.

The run follows a scenic course around Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage and will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1.

Last year it was held for the first time in two decades and more than 200 people of all ages and abilities turned out in the name of charity.

Entrants can run individually or as part of a team challenge, a boys' and girls' run or a schools team challenge.

The day finishes off with a family mass jog around the 3km course.

All money raised from entry fees and sponsorship will go to the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth GC, which provides specialist, palliative care and support for patients suffering from incurable cancer or motor neurone disease.

Pat Henry from Stevenage Community Trust, which organises the run along with Rotary International, said: "We were delighted with the turn out at last year's run and we're hoping this year will be bigger and better.

"It's a great day out and is for a really good cause. Runners of all abilities are welcome because the emphasis is on fun and having a good time."

To enter this year's run, simply complete the accompanying entry form, or write to Stevenage Community Trust, c/o EADS Astrium, Gunnels Wood Road, Stevenage, SG1 2NY.
