Boro chairman Phil Wallace has issued a rallying cry to the club's supporters in Comet country.

He called on all Boro fans to bring a friend along to Broadhall Way for Saturday's crunch home game against Morecambe.

"It's a huge game for us this Saturday and the whole club - players, fans and officials - should be 100 per cent united to give us the best possible chance of winning.

"Let's face it, it's February, we're playing the team in second place this Saturday and if we win, we go above them.

"Whatever anyone thinks of our performances or our consistency so far, these are the facts of it and we should all be positive and just get behind the team now."

Wallace also commented on the unrest surrounding some of the Boro's displays this season.

"We've all heard the moans about us being inconsistent," said Wallace. "Football is all about opinions but at this level most teams are going to be inconsistent. The one that isn't is the team that usually wins the league.

"We'd all love to be that team but when your name isn't on the championship, you fight for the next best thing - a play-off spot.

"I don't suppose Morecambe fans were any more pleased losing at home to Scarborough the other week than we were losing at home to Southport.

"But this league is like that now, so we may as well get used to it.

"One thing's for sure, this Saturday they'll be two of the best teams in the Conference fighting for the three points on offer and it is going to be a great atmosphere."

And Wallace added: "I said last week that this is a time for the optimists in the town to be heard.

"Those that think that being two points off second place in February in one of the most competitive leagues I've seen in the Conference isn't actually too shabby.

"Those that believe that clubs win matches and that positive support from the fans is vital.

"We've invested in three players (Adam Miller, Eric Obinna and Luke Oliver) to give us an edge last month and those three players are high quality.

"They've been well researched by Graham and he's worked hard to get them to come to us.

"They all want to play in the Football League and they've come to us because they believe us when we say we have great fans and a great chance of getting promotion this season.

"This Saturday isn't the be all and end all of the season but we're playing one of the seven clubs that are realistically competing for the play-offs.

"If we can gain a three point advantage over them, it'll be a huge boost for us.

"Our fans can help us achieve that, so if you have a soft spot for the Boro, make sure you're there.

"Bring someone if you can to swell the crowd and let the players know you're with them 100 per cent.
