ARLESEY Town are resigned to mid-table obscurity in the Southern League Division One East.

They were beaten 3-1 at play-off certainties Stamford on Easter Monday.

This was despite Michael McKenzie giving them the lead after 13 minutes.

The Blues also shared six goals at home with struggling Ilford on Saturday.

They went ahead when McKenzie sped on to a through ball and beat Lee Ward with ease after 15 minutes.

The scores were level seven minutes later when Sebastian Ndombe nipped in past a static defence to nod the ball home.

Ilford took the lead on 34 minutes when a deep corner was headed back and Ndombe was first to the ball to lash home from six yards for his second goal. The visitors almost grabbed a third when Carle Tasker was beaten but Darran Hay was on the line to stop the shot.

A more effervescent Arlesey started the second half and Ilford were soon down to 10 men.

Michael Cox was felled at a corner and Bradley Brotherton received a straight red card for his part in his downfall.

But a quick Ilford break saw lone striker Jeff Hammond score a third for the visitors on 66 minutes.

Things turned in Arlesey's favour with 15 minutes remaining.

A poor clearance from a corner found Luke Gregson on the edge of the area and his half volley flew into the net. Just a minute later, the scores were level when McKenzie latched onto a loose ball to stab home the equaliser.

A devastating break from Ilford should have seen them wrap the points up but a simple tap in from six yards went over the bar.

There was action at both ends of the park with chances to finish the game off in the dying moments. It took a great stop from keeper Tasker to beat away a close range volley. Nine minutes of added time could not separate the sides.

Blues: Tasker, Foster, Bloss, Hatchett, Hay, Cox, Nichol (Fehmi), Gregson, Bowgett (Beevor), McKenzie, Tekell (Taylor).
