So...........after 37 league games, we are tied in fifth place with just goal difference separating ourselves and York.

In the next five games, we have to leapfrog the lads from Yorkshire.

Fortunately, we have both Halifax and City to play so we are in control of our situation.

This season promises to be more exciting than last year when we managed to find our way into the play-off final. More exciting because we have a better team now and our chances of success are much higher.

The continuing emergence of Ronnie Henry and Alan Julian, the development of Jon Nurse and George Boyd, the signings of Luke Oliver and Adam Miller, and the return to fitness of a fresh Jason Goodliffe are positives.

Stevenage can have great hope.

So what would League football mean to the club?

Well, my reckoning is that the club would probably get some funding for its Academy.

In other words, the prospects for young kids to develop into tomorrow's stars are increased.

Gates would rise because bigger clubs with bigger fanbases would visit. I am sure that television monies and grants for ground developments increase in the League too.

So.....all round, a stronger club. Even better facilities and opportunities for the community of Stevenage to enjoy better quality entertainment on their doorstep.

We will only deliver this dream by working massively hard in the next few weeks.

There are thousands of people out there who can help. Many who come and support already. Many who may in the future.

There are families whose children may play for the team. Kids who may come through our structure and move on to real heights.

It is a big thing to win promotion into the Football League. And we need all the help we can get.

Yes, this is a rallying call. Yes, I am asking you to help us in any way you can. That may be by supporting on a matchday or by batting our corner in a phone in.

By calling Bob Makin on 01438 223223 and lending a hand around the ground or by encouraging your mate to get behind us.

The players, my management team, the club and I are doing this for our own sense of achievement. And for the benefit that our success can bring to all of you.

So, let's show now that Stevenage deserves a Football League club.

Make our support better than ever when Scarborough visit our ground on Saturday. Do your bit. And let's have a street party in May!
