VETERAN athlete Arthur Thomson, 70, has been named as runner-up in the World's Best Veteran Athlete Awards.
This year he won gold and silver medals at the World Masters in Austria.
On his 70th birthday he became the fastest man in the world for his age to walk 20kms at the national championships in Sheffield.
He then went on to win the British Masters' Champions-hips at 3k and 5k in world record times.
Unbeknown to him, he was nominated by the European Veterans Athletic Association for the World's Best Veteran Athlete award for his outstanding performances this year.
