MARCUS CRAWLEY reports

Two of the brightest young strikers in the Conference are in opposition this Saturday.

Stevenage Boro's Steve Morison and Dagenham and Redbridge's Paul Benson come face-to-face.

The pair were plucked from relative obscurity over the summer but have responded with goals galore.

Both found the net in midweek, with Benson scoring two more than Morison's tally of nine so far this season.

Surprise package Dagenham are second in the table and only four points behind leaders Oxford United.

Boro boss Mark Stimson said: "Dagenham are flying at the moment; they've got lots of youth and energy in their team.

"But if we perform to our capabilities we'll ask them serious questions."

P Jon Taylor has quit as the Arlesey Town manager this week for "work and personal reasons".

Taylor stepped down as manager of the Blues due to his personal commitments after steering the club through an FA Trophy preliminary round replay at Flackwell Heath on Tuesday night.

A replacement is yet to be named but assistant manager and Boro old boy Darran Hay is being touted by Taylor as his successor.

Taylor said: "It's got nothing to do with the football club and it's just work and personal issues. Although it was a disappointing time for me to do it, I felt the time was right.

"The team has started to play a lot better recently. I'm certainly not interested in going to another club and I hope to go and watch some games there.

"I'll be advising the club on my successor. Continuity is important and Darran is looking for his first job in management."

A club spokesman added: "There is no conflict or problems with the club and Jon and he is looking to stay with us in some form and help the new manager.
