Different venue, same excitement, for another top night of kickboxing in Stevenage on Saturday.

The Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre hosted a night which saw six fighters from the home club TS Kickboxing in action.

Sukhy The Secret Shoria ensured the crowd were left wanting more in the last fight of the evening.

Up against Wes Fagan, the fight heated up from round two onwards.

Shoria once again tucked up behind his trademark tight guard and pushed forward throwing front kicks followed by quality work on the inside.

Fagan refused to be dominated and threw power kicks and punches.

From round four the two fighters decided to go all out for victory and Shoria finished the latter rounds stronger, knocking the northern fighter's head back on many occasions and working well to the body.

After seven hard-fought rounds, the crowd and Shoria's corner expected the victory but the fight was declared a draw.

His coach Trevor Spencer, who also organised the evening, said: "It was a great fight from both of them.

"It seemed to us that Sukhy had done more than enough to win but that's how it goes. It was an excellent contest to finish the night off."

Andy Pollard won the Southern Area title against Childs from Dorchester.

From round one, both fighters were aggressive but although the power and accuracy of Pollard started to show from round three, the Dorchester fighter had a solid chin and soaked up the heavy shots.

Pollard then switched the attack to the body landing a good back kick followed by a hard front kick in the later rounds which forced Childs to take an eight count.

A barrage of kicks and punches sealed the win for the new area champ.

Eleven-year-old James Allum had had an entertaining bout to start the night off against a County Durham opponent and both gave everything over the three rounds.

Stacey Parker was also against a County Durham fighter.

Parker's strength started to show from the second round, landing some strong side kicks one of which sent her opponent to the canvas. Then a rarely seen Axe kick landed flush to the head of her opponent to ensure a well-deserved win.

Vikki Ranson - in her fifth fight of the year - was up against Jessup from Rochester.

The first round was even but Ranson began to push forward from the start of the second round, landing strong kicks on the way followed by relentless work on the inside for the next two rounds. Proving too strong for her opponent, she was awarded a unanimous win.

With an entrance to the ring that will not be forgotten, Gad Mullins took on Cooper from Bedford.

From the bell Mullins started with his trademark front kick followed by nice hand combinations which shook up his much younger opponent.

The Bedford fighter did well to make it to the end of the round and at the start of the second, he came out with all guns blazing to be met by the same from Mullins.

The home fighter then gave himself some room and unleashed a powerful jab cross combination which sent his opponent to the canvas. Cooper was counted out to ensure Mullins won by stoppage.

Trevor Spencer said: "We would like to thank all the sponsors for their continued support of the shows, and also the Arts and Leisure Centre for all their hard work and providing us with an excellent venue."

Commonwealth heavyweight boxing champion Matt Skelton from Bedford went back to his kickboxing roots as a special guest for the evening's entertainment.

The next kickboxing show in Stevenage will be in late March/early April 2007.
