Knebworth took the local derby honours in the Herts Senior County League on Saturday.

They recorded their first victory of the season against Premier Division title hopefuls Hatfield Town.

A brace apiece for recent signings Adam Lamacraft and Louie Evans powered the K's to a convincing 4-1 win, with Dave Hewing providing Hatfield's response.

Knebworth's new strike pairing combined on 20 minutes to produce the opening goal, Lamacraft cutting it back for Evans to score.

Hatfield hit back within four minutes with a well-worked goal, Lewis Field breaking down the left and crossing for Hewing to slot home.

The visitors regained their lead in the 41st minute through Lamacraft.

Knebworth doubled their advantage in the 70th minute, Evans producing a fine solo effort.

Collecting the ball short from a corner, he beat two men along the byline before sliding the ball into the net.

With just under a quarter of an hour remaining, Lamacraft took Knebworth into an unassailable lead. Returning from an offside position, the striker latched onto a weak headed back pass and raced clear to net.

Evans went from hero to villain five minutes from time when he was red carded for retaliation.

Manager Tony Lamacraft said: "Hopefully this will act as a launchpad for our season as we look to consolidate ourselves in the Premier Division."
