THREE Stevenage boxers were in action over the weekend at two shows in Witney, Oxfordshire, and Cambridge.

Loz Bell failed in his bid to lift the Home Counties Golden Belt class two under-54kgs title at the Langdale Hall in Witney, Oxfordshire, against A Khandoular (Banbury ABC).

Bell controlled the first round with long jabs and right crosses but had to take a couple of hefty hooks. The next two rounds saw Bell just fall short with his punches to drop a close decision.

On the same show, Harry Marshall took his record to three wins out of three, this time against Blackbird Leys boxer 'Maverick' Harding.

His accurate punches kept him in front over a capable fighter who was also unbeaten in two contests. One such combination forced an eight count on Harding and the Stevenage lad almost finished it in the third but had to settle for the points verdict.

Eleven-year-old Sonny Smith made his debut at the University Arms Hotel, Cambridge, and boxed with skill and maturity to beat a good boxer from Eastgate ABC of Bury St Edmunds.
