Langford Ladies' good form continued with a convincing 2-0 victory at Leyton Orient Women in the second round of the FA Women's Cup on Sunday.

The early exchanges were even until Langford started to gain the upper hand with both Naomi Lyons and Fay Rees forcing the Orient keeper to make good saves.

On the half hour, Orient failed to clear a Langford attack and Laveena Betts brought the ball under control before smashing an unstoppable shot into the net.

Three minutes later, Betts turned provider as her long pass allowed Rees to outpace the defence before a cool finish extended the Langford lead.

The second half produced a solid display as Orient pressed forward in search of goals.

Defensively Langford broke up play and reduced the Londoners to long-range efforts, while on the break they could have increased their lead but for the home team's impressive keeper.

Langford: Verity Crook, Nikki Day (Donna McGuigan 70), Sheree Oliver, Sophie Bailey, Laura Bright, Debbie Styles, Emma Tune (Laura Shearwood 83), Laveena Betts, Naomi Lyons (Shelley Forster 65), Jade White, Faye Rees.

Stevenage Boro Ladies were 4-1 winners at home to second placed Kings Sports.

The visitors dominated the first 15 minutes but the opening goal went to Boro after central midfielder Amy Vye scored her first goal of the season from a decent cross.

Boro started to play and dominate the game, with Tasha Roult narrowly missing two chances.

Their second goal came when Ana Ruiz-Jerez found the back of the net from a corner.

Boro made changes at the break, with Rachel Edlin and new signing Kerry Evans coming on upfront.

Both had early chances but Evans found the back of the net twice towards the end of the half on her league debut for the ladies.

Kings Sports got a consolation after the ball was hit over the top and their striker slotted the ball in the corner.

The win sees Boro fourth in the league after eight games.

Arlesey Town Ladies made it four wins in a row but could only beat the nine players of Godmanchester by a single goal.

Mia Price hit the post early on and the Blues scored on 27 minutes when Sarah Tayler's corner was converted by Marie Clarke at the far post.

Price also had a goal ruled out for offside before the break.

It was a frustrating second half for the Blues as they continued on their way to having 18 shots at goal during the whole 90 minutes but only just the one goal.

The second team lost 4-0 to Sherrardswood. Manager's player of the match was Julia Booker and players' player went to Julie Beattie, Michelle Whitehead and Emma Groombridge jointly.

Hitchin Hearts cruised to a 5-1 win against visitors Sandy Ladies in a Herts and Beds League match that saw them play some flowing football.

Becky Saunders opened the scoring and Ollie Olsson followed with a brace to make it 3-0 before the break.

Hearts continued to dominate when the highlight of the match occurred with Jade Turner scoring her first goal since moving from midfield to forward four matches ago.

Laura Wilkie added the fifth with Sandy Ladies scoring a consolation goal late on.

Managers John Hawkins and Phil Sayer were pleased with the display, especially as the team has not yet returned to full strength due to injuries and unavailability.
