The highlight were the first XI who finished as the area's top team.

Dave Carr's side just failed by four points to win promotion to the Home Counties Regional Premier League - the highest league possible.

The club's success was shown in the club awards night at The Novotel.

Many players vied for the awards, presented by club president Peter Allen and town mayor Simon Speller.

All-rounder Gareth Berg won The Comet Award for the first XI players' player of the year (504 runs and 34 wickets, plus 10 catches).

The Robert Adams Colt of the Year award went to Laurie Brown for his 575 runs for the third XI.

Second team all-rounder Adil Zargar was the most improved player, and 14-year-old fourth team wicket-keeper Connor Hayward was named as most promising player.

Sohail Idress' 181 for the second team against Eversholt was the top individual performance.

The captain's award went to Gary Brown for his 657 runs in the first XI and skipper Carr won the chairman's trophy.
