Baldock managed a second victory this campaign by beating Great Gaddesden by seven wickets in the Broadview Windows North Herts League.

Great Gaddesden batted first and despite an early loss to an injury looked well placed for a 200 plus score.

They looked comfortable at 90-1 until Graham Letford's leg spin nipped out two vital wickets in a good spell.

Then from a score of 140-4 they were dismissed for 160 as Alistair Jones (4-10) and Logan Newman ripped through the tail to give Baldock a good chance of victory.

Their reply was excellent as Robert Peacock (48) and Paul Gentle (28) put on 75 for the first wicket.

A slight wobble saw Baldock fall to 90-3 but Ranjit Rayat (46no) and skipper Rob Cant (22no) saw them home without further loss with five overs to spare.

Nine-man Weston were beaten by fellow Division Two strugglers Graveley.

Matthew Preston (89) and Peter Bracey (96) shared a second wicket partnership of 175 in just 25 overs for Graveley.

Excellent bowling from skipper Marcus Peckham (3-45), Craig Braine (2-45) and John McKean (4-22 in six overs) restricted Graveley to 250 all out in their 40 overs.

Weston's second wicket pairing of McKean and Orville Batson shared a partnership of 80 in just 10 overs before losing Batson for 41.

McKean (73) and Braine (37) kept the required run rate going by putting on 64 for the third wicket.

Despite a dashing 24no from Phil Moore towards the end, Graveley tied things up to leave the home side 35 runs short on 215-5.

Ickleford's winning run in Division Two came to an end with a comprehensive defeat at Codicote.

A sloppy bowling performance conceded 37 wides as Codicote raced to 267-4 in their 40 overs with Carl Richards making 72 and his son Luke unbeaten on 45.

Ickleford made a good start and were up with the required rate but kept losing wickets. John Clark made 40 and Dan Watson 39 as Ickleford were all out for 178.

* There were contrasting fortunes for Henlow's two sides in the Beds League on Sunday.

Visitors Luton Town and Indians 2nds struggled to 131-8 against the firsts in Division Two, Kris Canagasabey taking 3-13 in his 10 overs.

Henlow lost three wickets in knocking off the runs thanks to Canagasabey (34), Ashley Dunn (39no) and James Chudley (37).

The seconds went down by six wickets at Eversholt in Division Three after only posting 125-9.

Pete Edwins took three of the four Eversholt wickets to fall in response.

* Preston seconds had a fine Chess Valley League win at home to Northwood on Sunday.

Northwood posted 166 all out, Mark Smith taking 3-14, before a brilliant innings of 82 by Anthony Ender put Preston in the driving seat as they got home by six wickets.

Preston's Academy team beat Knebworth Park by 68 runs on Sunday.

Their 172-8 was thanks to 54 from skipper William Brookbanks, 27 from Iain Purton and 26 from Christie Caldwell.

Fine bowling from Bob Hearne, Henry Moorcroft, Purton and Peter Murell paved the way for a pleasing win in a match that saw fine performances from two sets of twins - the Leathers for Knebworth Park and the Moorcrofts for Preston.

* A young Ickleford Cricketers side travelled to Nazeing Common for a friendly and were well beaten.

The home side racked up 253-6 to make an early declaration.

Cricketers' most successful bowler was John Ross (2-30) as 10 different bowlers were used.

Faced with a huge total, Cricketers saw only Jon Hare (32) and Tom Salusbury (28no) make any runs as they subsided to 132 all out.
