NEW Langford boss Roy Boon and assistant Hendy Manning opened their account this week.

The Reds won 2-1 at Welwyn Garden City in their opening game in the SML Premier Division.

Deniz Mehmet saw his goalbound shot cleared off the line by Dorian Small before the Reds went ahead. The ball was cleared to Robert Groves and he released Wes Byrne to fire them ahead.

Danny Fitzpatrick restored parity on 37 minutes but the winner arrived just five minutes later. Gareth Grant's corner was powerfully met by the head of Ricky Small in the six-yard box. Welwyn GC could not force an equaliser after the break.
