Saracens Herts League

Powerful Ickleford Cricketers all-rounder Jon Hare slammed a club record 13 sixes in their draw with North Mymms 3rds.

The decision to put Cricketers into bat in inclement weather conditions backfired as Hare hit an incredible unbeaten 172 in the Division Nine clash.

His innings also included 15 fours as no bowler could contain his awesome array of strokes. The next highest score was Sean Sehmbey's 24 as Cricketers declared after 38 overs on 225-5.

With overs lost to the weather, Cricketers tried to press for the win but North Mymms held on and did not attempt to chase the target.

Dave Allen took three wickets and Darren Seaby two as Mymms closed on 117-8 and a draw.

Baldock Town showed that winning is a habit by making it three in a row against Holtwhites Trinibis in Division Five thanks to some late order heroics

They were asked to bowl first on a decent but occasionally lively wicket.

After wickets for Logan Newman and Alistair Jones, James Peacock took three quick wickets in an eight-over spell.

Jones then chipped in with two more wickets in his marathon spell and Holtwhites were in all sorts of trouble at 90-7.

Holtwhites added 60 for the eighth wicket before they were dismissed for a competitive 160 from 48 overs. Jones took 3-62 from 21 overs and Peacock 3-30 from his eight overs.

Baldock's reply got off to a bad start as they fell to 34-4.

James Peacock took the score to 58 when he was stumped brilliantly down the legside for a hard-hit 36 and then another brace of wickets fell to leave Baldock staring down the barrel at 91-7.

Slowly but surely the pairing of Andy Payne and Jones started to get a grip on proceedings.

The pair batted fairly untroubled for 16 overs and added 70 unbeaten runs for the eighth wicket.

Heroes Payne and Jones both ended up 35no.

The seconds survived torrential rain, thunderstorms and an abysmal batting performance to secure victory against Old Elizabethans 2nds.

Wickets fell at regular intervals as Old Elizabethans slipped to 46-6 before recovering slightly to stumble to 104 all out from 51 overs.

Phil Lucy finished with outstanding figures of 5-30 from 22 overs and he was ably supported by Chris Lewis who took 3-28 from 18 overs.

During the tea interval the rain started pouring down and play eventually resumed with Baldock needing 105 from 38 overs.

Wickets soon began to tumble around opener Richie Waters, and with the light fading over the damp track, scoring became increasingly difficult.

Waters was eventually dismissed for 59 and Baldock looked to have thrown away their chances with nine wickets down and still requiring six runs to win.

After several tense overs, and a spectacular thunderstorm rumbling over the ground, number 11 Lewis lofted a delivery down the ground for four to secure victory.
