Stevenage seconds were narrow winners over their Letchworth counterparts in a Saracens Herts League Division Three local derby.

Letchworth elected to bat first at Fairfield Park and were troubled by spin twins Amit Dattani (5-77 off 22 overs) and Sohail Idress (3-45).

Despite contributions from skipper Graham Bishton (38), Adam Jenkins (37), Sam Booth (34), Simon Elliott (32) and Richard Gillham (31), Letchworth were all out for 224 off the penultimate ball of their final over.

Saeed Ali played both aggressive and deft shots in a classy 75 but Stevenage looked to be in trouble at 175-7. But it was new recruit from Letchworth, Barry Hann (37no), who stole the show with excellent footwork and ground stokes who teamed with Martin Nevill (27no) to see Stevenage home by three wickets in the last over.

The Stevenage thirds lost out in a tense finish to North Mymms 3rds at home.

Laurie Brown (79) and skipper Ben Leet (63) shared a 140-run partnership for the third wicket.

But the team slumped again from 170-3 to 204 all out.

Mymms were 140-0 after 30 overs, with 25 overs remaining, and the game looked all but over.

A few quick wickets fell and it became apparent that the Mymms tail was also a long one.

Leet decided to go for the win with men around the bat once the third wicket had fallen. Mymms clung on to victory for the eventual loss of five wickets, with just four overs remaining in the game.

Hemel Hempstead 5ths managed to rattle up 236-4 in 53 overs against the fourth team.

Openers Phil Maguire (68) and Conor Hayward (28) put on 62.

Wickets were then lost at regular intervals as Stevenage were finally all out for 211.
