Baldock were well beaten by Hatfield Hyde despite fighting hard in the latter stages.

They were sent into bat on what was a tricky wicket and were soon in serious trouble at 12-5 from 13 overs.

The score only marginally improved to 65-8 with Adam Taylor battling hard for 28.

Luckily Baldock reached three figures due to a spirited partnership of 44 between Alistair Jones (22) and Logan Newman, in his last Saturday game for Baldock, who scored a bright and hard-hitting 30.

Baldock totalled 109 all out off 41.4 overs with the accurate Rajput taking 4-37 from 20 overs.

Hyde started well before the introduction of left-arm spinner Tim Dean (3-27 from 12.3 overs) put the brakes on.

Despite his three good wickets and a farcical run out, the hosts made it home by six wickets in 38.3 overs.

The seconds moved up to third place in Division 10 with a thrilling victory against Boxmoor 2nds.

Boxmoor were soon reeling on 48-4, skipper Mark Lewis taking three wickets in his opening spell.

But they recovered well on a superb batting track, with a lightning fast outfield, to reach 233-7.

Richie Waters (36) and Andy Diplock (26) put on 60 for the first wicket in reply.

Duncan Lewis (25) and Pete Tily (59) carried on the momentum. Baldock scored the winning runs with an over to spare, Lewis finishing on 36no as they won by four wickets.

Ickleford Cricketers made light work of Allenburys in Division Nine.

They elected to bowl and on a variable wicket, Allenburys could not handle the pace and variation from powerful all-rounder Jon Hare.

He was unplayable at times in taking 6-13 as the visitors crumbled to 79 all out.

In reply, Cricketers made light of the supposed difficulties of the pitch as Sean Sehmby (48no) and Kevin Shinner (26no) struck any loose deliveries for boundaries to see them home by 10 wickets in 16 overs.

Bragbury remain top of Division 10 following a close win against Clifton seconds.

Clifton was bowled out for a competitive 176 thanks to some fine batting from Nott (67) and Gillespie (53). Dan Mitchell was the top bowler for Bragbury with 5-30.

In reply, Craig Braine made a positive start with 66 and was well supported by Graham Clarke (36).

Clifton fought back with a number of crucial wickets but Bragbury remained calm to hit the winning runs with two balls to spare and record their eighth win this season.
