LAST week Stevenage school children were invited to attend a karate master class delivered by Stevenage JKAE karate club.

Working with the Stevenage Schools Sports Partnership, a group of interested youngsters were taken through their paces at Shephall Leisure Centre.

The session was led by National Champion Darren Welsh 4th Dan JKA from Barnet and involved a fascinating insight into the background of karate and youngsters had the opportunity to join in with the team of 11 club members and try the moves for themselves.

Jill Eaton, Partnership Development Manager, said: "There is a sport or activity out there for every youngster.

"Through the sports partnership and by working closely with our local clubs, we hope to open as many doors as possible to enable youngsters and adults to find the sport or activity that suits them."

The Stevenage JKAE karate club is keen to enlist new members and holds it's sessions at The Poplars Community Centre on Mondays and Thursdays 6-30 to 7-30pm.
