Knebworth Park continued their Jekyll and Hyde season in crashing to a disappointing defeat at home to Potters Bar.

After removing both openers Micky Palmer and Ollie Coughlan cheaply, they then missed crucial catching chances and failed to make full use before lunch of moisture in the wicket after overnight rain.

Neither Anthony Pratt (5-89) and Chris Brook were at their best as Bar built a higher total than they should have been allowed.

Jarrod Norman (86), Scott Fraser (35) and Sri Lankan A all-rounder Kush Weearatne (40) built the foundation. Useful runs from the lower order by Paul Barker and Tom Coughlan lifted their total to 269-9.

The Park had a bad start when Adrian Holmes went early and this was compounded by the further loss of both David Lowe and Pratt who were run out.

Ben Lewis (48) and Tom Jenkins sought to rebuild the innings and then both Ryan Skeggs and Rob Murphy made starts and failed to press on.

The Park continued to give their wickets away against the left-arm spin of Paul McGee (5-50) on what was a good batting wicket as they capitulated to 136 all out.

Their form was a complete contrast to their excellent wins over Hertford and Sawbridgeworth.

The second team had a thrilling last over win over their Potters Bar counterparts.

Skipper Jarrod Turner (67) and Shaun Robinson (50) led the way with support from Steve Gregory (34) as they piled on a good total of 253-7.

Sam McCrow's quick bowling (5-59) soon had the Bar batsmen in trouble.

With Junior d'Abreu (3-18) and Robinson (2-10) also among the wickets, the home side slipped to 50-6 before a late revival which was then swept away in the final two overs. McCrow claimed the last wicket with two balls to spare as they were bowled out for 163.

The high-flying thirds could not quite pull off victory and were held to a draw at Hatfield Hyde after dominating much of the game.

Jeremy Goodacre (26) and Mark Turner (39) gave them a 53-run opening start followed by Graham Martin's 53. Michael Carter followed up with 36 to lift the total to 199-8.

Sandy Reynolds bagged 5-36 with his nagging left arm bowling as Hyde were 135-9 at the close.

A brilliant innings of 87 by Anthony Price led the fourths to another win over bottom of the table Langleybury 3rds.

They were in deep trouble at 13-3 chasing the visitors' 182-8 before Price's belligerent batting. Then Tommy Hull (38no) and Mark Klimek (27no) steered them home to a five-wicket win.

Mark Taylor bowled a marathon 23 overs, taking 6-68 to restrict the visitors' batting.

John Inman's youthful fifths gave a good team effort to clinch their first win of the season in Division 10 at Ickleford 2nds.

Under-15s quick bowler Henry Snowdon (4-13) and leggie Conor Alderman (2-53), coupled with the bowling of Robert Crowe and the experienced Mark Folwell, bowled out Ickleford for 173.

Mark Woods' (47) powerful strokeplay led the reply before he needlessly ran himself out.

Fellow opener David Barwick grafted hard for 52 and in the end they passed the finishing line with four wickets to spare, Inman adding a crucial 33no.

The sixth team's batting crumbled against Datchworth 3rds as only Martin Jones and Andy Page reached double figures in a total of 61 as Andy Draper (6-30) and Laurie Shaw (4-24) wreaked havoc.

Eddie Large (3-32) and Graham Rose (2-24) posed similar problems as the visitors struggled in reply at 40-5 before getting home without further loss.
