BIGGLESWADE Cricket Club breezed into the semi final of the Hospital Cup when they swept aside Sharnbrook on Friday.

Sharnbrook's skipper decided to bat but his team was always in trouble and after their scheduled 16 overs were back in the pavilion on 97-7.

Harmit Bahra was the pick of the Biggleswade bowlers taking 3-23.

Biggleswade openers Kevin Wright and Jimmy Hart started in their usual positive fashion hitting 14 in the first over.

Hart fell in the eighth over for 34 which brought Frank Woodward to the crease for a rare innings and after teasing the Sharnbrook bowlers he hit a boundary and jogged off to go to a prior engagement.

Wright finished on 48 as Biggleswade reached a winning total of 100-1.

Biggleswade will now play Potton in the semi finals tonight (Thursday) at The Hollow.

Nine-men Ickwell proved too strong for Biggleswade in their Millman League clash on Saturday.

Biggleswade were put into bat and amassed what looked a good total of 244-7 with Dan Szwajbak hitting a stunning 60 off 62 deliveries.

Ickwell claimed victory on 248-2 with Harry Young remaining unbeaten on 127.

On Sunday the two teams clashed again in the Beds Premier League and this time Biggleswade came out on top.

Ickwell were all out for 147 with Martin Whinnett taking 4-29.

Biggleswade claimed the points with victory on 152-3 with Kevin Wright doing the damage with a blistering 60 and Matt Twigg hitting an unbeaten half century.
