Stotfold look to be climbing out of the relegation mire following another victory.

A 3-2 home win over fellow strugglers S/L Corby has put even more daylight between them and the bottom two.

It was certainly dramatic as they scored three times in six minutes before having a man sent off.

Stotfold's first goal on 21 minutes came when it looked as if an attack had broken down.

Tommy Hull lofted the ball back into the box for Denny Kennoy, with his back to goal, to head the ball into the path of Callum Donnelly who volleyed in his first goal of the season.

Less than a minute later, Wes Byrne flicked a ball forward to the left for Ricky Case to gather, cut inside and fire low to the far post.

The third arrived on 27 minutes when Tawhid Juneja headed in Dave Drury's free-kick from the right.

A rush of blood to Byrne's head after a late challenge from Sean Brennan meant Stotfold were forced to play the rest of the match a man short.

Gordon Guile's shot from the left on 38 minutes curled wide before the visitors pulled one back five minutes before the break when Nigel Blower's clearance was charged down by Greg McIlwain and he fired in before any defenders had a chance to recover.

A good one-on-one save from Blower denied Bobby Drain on the restart, while at the other end Case and Guile both had a couple of good chances each.

Seven minutes from the end, Corby reduced the deficit when McIlwain blasted a central free-kick into the top right corner.

There was a real escape for Stotfold in the last minute when Brennan was put clean through and lobbed the ball over Blower for what should have been the equaliser. But while he ran screaming over to the bench to celebrate, the ball bounced off the bar and was headed away by Dave Drury.

Rokermen: Blower, Nichol, Drury, Kennoy, Juneja (S Drury), Taylor, Donnelly (Gregory), Hull, Byrne, Guile, Case.

Arlesey Town lost a two-goal lead at basement side Ilford in a poor match.

The Blues had beaten them twice already this season - by a single goal on each occasion in the FA Cup and league - and it all looked plain sailing as they went two goals ahead.

Arlesey took the lead in the fourth minute as Lee Tekell's corner from the left found Darran Hay unmarked in front of goal and his header easily beat Horsler.

Ilford had plenty of possession but apart from two crosses punched away by Luke Bliss, the visitors were seldom troubled and at this stage the home side appeared to accept their fate.

In the 38th minute, Arlesey increased their lead when a cross from the right was not cleared and the ball reached Hay at the far post to rifle in his second.

Ilford were faster out of the traps on the restart and when Steve Dogbe handled on the edge of the box, Vincent dispatched the ball into the top corner.

The home side pressed hard for an equaliser but almost conceded again when Craig Rydeheard's free-kick from 25 yards beat home keeper Horsler only for his effort to be cleared off the line.

Ilford were beginning to dominate proceedings, particularly in midfield, and their equaliser arrived in the 75th minute.

A long clearance out of defence caught the Blues square and despite fervent offside appeals, Stevens rounded Bliss to score.

The best Arlesey chances came when a Tekell corner was headed on by Hay only to be cleared at the third attempt, and from a Rydeheard shot that flashed over the bar.

Blues squad: Bliss, Reed, McElroy, Beckett, Dogbe, Gray, Tekell, Barr, Hay, Townsend, Rydeheard, Mills, A Fehmi, Clark, Rashid, Charamboulis.

Langford were beaten 3-2 at Leverstock Green (Rob Groves and Lee Pateman) and Arlesey Athletic went down 2-1 at New Bradwell St Peter (Dave Kiddie).
