FVS TRI'S team of 11 runners at Milton Keynes were led home by head run coach Brian White.

He won male Vet 50 gold at the Milton Keynes Half Marathon with a time of 1-18:40 for 23rd overall.

Simon Hall was 24th, only a few seconds behind Brian, and Kevin Sambridge and Andrew Forster also both managed to break an hour and a half with a close finish in 1-28:31 and 1-28:37 respectively.

Newest member Christina Meade finished in 1-51:40 ahead of Steve Mussett in 2-02:46 making his debut at the distance and finishing 1,348th from 2,037 finishers.

Alex Turner continued to fly the flag for the FVS TRI cycling team by racing the 43-mile Hemel Hempstead Spring Road Race (aka Spring Chicken).

He was part of the exciting bunch sprint and managed seventh overall having being boxed in at the last, denying him the elusive top three slot that beckoned.

A lovely March day resulted in some fast times at Sunday's Milton Keynes Half Marathon for the Fairlands Valley Spartans.

Many of the 22 Spartans who took part were pleased with their efforts.

Fastest from the club was Jim Brown in 1-26:54, more than a minute faster than last year.

First Spartan woman was Chris King in 1-34:17 - a new personal best by two seconds.

But the fastest half marathon of the weekend was run by Simon Bell who completed the Fleet Half Marathon in 1-19:42.

Eleven members of North Herts Road Runners took to the roads at Milton Keynes.

First for the club was Nick Beresford, finishing ninth in a new personal best time of 1-16:42.

He was closely followed by Steve McKeown in 22nd position in 1-18:36, Pete Northover 38th in 1-20:39, and Pete Sibbett who made up a strong men's team in 53rd place in 1-22:54.

Catherine Marsden-Jones showed her marathon training is paying dividends as she finished in 1-57:41.

Sharon Gregson, swapping her sports therapist couch for road running, impressed on her half marathon debut and finished in just over two hours (2-00:03).

Chris Walby, in preparation for the London Marathon, completed the race in 2-15:55 dressed as a badger. Chris is raising money for St John Ambulance.

Other finishers: John Franklin 111th 1-26:44, Adrian Sherwood 278th 1-33:47, Phil Davies 325th 1-35:17, Colin Hewitt 1326th 2-02:02.

Steve Taplin travelled to the south coast for the Hastings Half Marathon and finished in 1-34:12.
