Exciting British Muay Thai super heavyweight Chris Knowles made his K1 debut in front of 7,000 fans in Hungary.

His fight against Maksym Nelevda at the National Stadium in Budapest was a step up in class for the Minotaur Gym fighter from Hitchin.

He constantly troubled his more experienced Ukrainian opponent with powerful low kicks, combinations and great all-round strength.

A knee injury late in the fight meant he was unable to continue, while Nelevda then went on to win the eight-man tournament.

Other Minotaur fighters have also featured recently.

Lyndon Knowles won on points against Vas (KO Gym) at 100kgs plus at the York Hall, London.

Sam Wilson also won on points against Jared Grigor (KO Gym) at 76kgs. But Kenny Gayle unfortunately lost on points against Zurab Drugda (KO Gym) at 86kgs.

More fought at Cambridge in sparring level three (heavy contact, with no winners or losers).

Those involved were 10-year-old Connor Emery and Ben Cole and Luke Roberts, both 17.

Ladies' coach Jo McKenary fought twice, showing pure class as she prepares for higher level events. Heavyweight Paul Smith also showed skill can overcome weight difference.

At Woking, young talent Charlie Gillespie won convincingly by points against Richard Reece (Devils MT) at 75kgs.

And Ian Coe won a real 'war' against Chris Wray (Golden Team) at 84kgs on points.

Anwar Kasassa was in action at Carlisle against Mike Haslam (Dragons) at 75kgs and he won by knocking his opponent out with an amazing knee and right hand.

This year will see the Minotaur Gym setting up training teams and fighters competing all over the world.
