Hitchin Rugby Club's under-12s squad provided inspiration to Saracens on Sunday when they were the guard of honour at their game against Narbonne in the European Challenge Cup.

Having been welcomed onto the pitch by the lads and lasses from Hitchin, Saracens recorded a resounding 47-20 victory to maintain their 100 per cent record in the competition.

The under-12s provided the welcome as part of Hitchin Rugby Club's partner arrangements with Saracens this year.

The team, who move on from mini to junior rugby next year, were proud to inspire the Premiership team to another win.

The boys and girls have been playing together since they were seven-years-old and have developed under their coaches Tim Bonnett and Mike Skeels into a successful team.

They will only have learned from watching the Premiership and international stars to help continue their success in the seasons to come.

Hitchin have more than 200 players involved in rugby every Sunday and are always keen to introduce more young people to the game.

Any child or parent interested should come along to King George V playing field in Old Hale Way from 10.30am any Sunday between September and April.

The club has fully qualified coaches in all age groups, full compliance with child protection policies and an active social side for parents and children.
