The last friendlies of the season saw Riverain Indoor Bowls Club captain Sam Skinner share the highest winning rink with Mick Hyde in Saturday's game.

Riverain defeated Ladygate by a whopping 103 shots (197-94).

Skips names only: John Gee won 24-9, John Alden won 23-16, Mick Hyde won 36-6, Ivan Izzard lost 17-19, Doug Major won 18-16, Sam Skinner won 38-8, Jim Baird won 16-11.

And the club also beat Gloucester Park by 71 shots (187-116).

Skips names only: Pat Clark won 26-7, Mina Reid won 25-20, Roger Shinner drew 14-14, Ron Coxall lost 13-16, Barbara Clark won 22-9, Dave Webb won 20-19, Brian Mills won 18-15, Charlie Brown won 29-16.

n Sunday was finals day for the bowlers from Stevenage Leisure Centre IBC. Their ladies' final saw Sue Cole emerge victorious, as regrettably her opponent had to cancel the match.

The gents final saw a tussle between Ted Stacey and Jim Hillyard with Jim eventual winner by 11 shots (21-10).

And the pairs saw a titanic struggle, with the eventual winners being Colvin and Muriel Cooper.

They managed to fight their way back from 19-10 down to an eventual score of 21-19 (and it took them 21 ends to manage this!).

Then the ladies took on the gents. Although it was honours even on the rinks (one each), the gents emerged as overall winners by 17 shots (42-25).

Their presentation evening is tomorrow (Friday) at the CIU club in Stevenage Old Town.

n In their last game of the season, Stevenage Nomads won by 11 shots (120-109) against Lawson Park last Thursday. Their top winning rink (36-13) was Joan James, George Brenner, Pat Clark and Roy Clay.
