Stevenage and North Herts AC did not have to look far for a celebrity presenter for this year's awards night.

The club's most recent Great Britain international athlete, Neil McLellan, obliged to the delight of their members.

Awards for the highest nationally ranked athletes went to Neil for his fifth place in the senior men's javelin and to Louise Shortland for her fourth in the under-20 women's pole vault.

Neil and Louise, together with Shelley McLellan, Neil's sister, were presented with certificates to mark their setting of new club records during the season.

There has been a revival of road racing in the club, with Adam Searle winning both the 5k and 10k trophies, Joanne Mansell the 5k and Lauren Cunningham the 10k women's awards.

Versatility is a hallmark of the club's track and field athletes with Alex Gates, Anne Rees, Nick Stoppard, Bunmi Awokoya and Glen Begley winning both track and field trophies.

The trophy for the clubperson of the year was presented to Len Allbrighton who is the club's treasurer as well as the lead coach for the under-12 training group.
