Letchworth Sharks junior swim squad took part in the George Edwards Memorial Trophy on Saturday.

Eventual winners Hertford just beat Cheshunt, Enfield, Hemel Hempstead, Ware and the Sharks.

The outstanding girls' nine years relay team of Fiona Thornton, Zoe Taylor, Katie Shoobert and Alessandra Stevens won their freestyle event and set a new club record in the medley race.

Their boys' nine years team of Richard Thomson, Joseph Pridmore, James Smith and debutant Rory Myner also set a new club record for the medley, as did the girls' under-13 team of Erin Tomlin, Nicola Sissons, Lottie Cartwright and Imogen Cooper.

The under-12 butterfly swimmers Rachel Brown and Dominic Stevens smashed the club records in their individual events.

On a good night for the young swimmers, 22 of the 32 individual races were personal best times for the participants with Graham Birch swimmer of the gala for setting two new times.

The other swimmers with new personal records were Rachel Brown, Lottie Cartwright, Christian deTrafford, Imogen deTrafford, Robyn Godfrey, Adam Hensby, Louise Kiernan, Nick Ledwold, Megan Levet, Michael Levet, Jacob Myner, Sarah Plater, Joesph Pridmore, Nicola Sissons, Hayley Smith, James Smith, Alessandra Stevens, Dominic Stevens, Zoe Taylor, Richard Thomson and Fiona Thornton.
