The Comet Stevenage Sunday Football League

After KLM Challenge Cup defeat the previous week, Mallard gained revenge over Bottles to set up a meeting with Nirankari Sports Sabha in the Premier Division Cup final.

A back post Simon Brooks header from a Craig Reynolds cross opened the scoring. Andy Pilgrim found the top corner from a free-kick before a Perry Phillips header made it three. Reynolds netted from 20 yards before a consolation from Rob Yates.

MBDA were beaten by their nemesis yet again as Probuild's amazing season continued in the Division One Cup. It was just their fifth defeat in 24 games all season, and three have come against them.

Richard Hall did not help Probuild's chances when he was sent-off for violent conduct during a melee after half an hour but they battled on and covered the extra man well. He had originally clashed heads with Olly Rice who needed 17 stitches in an eye wound.

Ade Barry and Alan Kenney hit the post for MBDA but Lee Allinson should have won it in the last minute for Probuild, not getting enough on a low cross.

They did go in front in extra-time through Gary Pomfret's back header from a long throw-in past stand-in keeper Stef Sarwa. Terry Pateman sewed the game up with five minutes remaining. They now meet Pin Green in the final.

Premier Division leaders Nirankari Sports Sabha had a bagful of chances but a brace from captain Ben l'honore was enough despite Andy Kelly's last-minute consolation for Bedwell Athletic.

Due to time restrictions after the nets were missing, Dun Cow played Old Red Lion in an old-fashioned double header where a one-off game counted double. A brace apiece from Adam Furness, Riki Doyle and Shaun Marshall, plus Aymen Ahmed's strike saw the Cow home. Gary Smith and Tom Hillard replied.

Sam Gittings gave Station the lead before Russell Bull's back-post header brought AFC Proverbial level. Gittings netted again after the break, as did Bull. Station led for a third time through Liam McQueen's penalty before Mick Simpson put it beyond doubt.

Although Pig and Whistle regained the Division One leadership, they will be disappointed with a draw. Scott Durham and Craig Joy netted against Peartree for whom Trevor Hoyte grabbed both.

Pin Green kept in the hunt when Sean Soards netted after coming out on top in a one-on-one with the Coopers keeper Sam Archer.

Michael Gwilliam played a great through ball to Christian Goodyear for the equaliser. Soards restored the lead with a lob after Graeme Kear put him through. James Pirie drilled home the third and Gary Chambers neatly passed the ball past the on-rushing Archer to finish the job.

On Tuesday night, Probuild destroyed Peartree thanks to a Terry Pateman hat-trick, a Richard Hall brace, plus strikes from Lee Allinson and Gary Pomfret. They are the only unbeaten side in league action in all four divisions.

The champagne is on ice for Division Two champions-elect FC Rising Sun. Only a mathematical miracle can spoil the party now after a comfortable win over Old Social. Lee Kitching grabbed two, one from a free-kick. John Hughes grabbed the other two, one from a clever lob.

Norwich Union just about clung on to them as they returned to winning ways with a comfortable victory over King Pin United.

The opener came courtesy of James Anderson after the keeper had saved Tim Russell's initial effort following a Charlie Anderson free-kick. Dave Banks grabbed the next two goals before the break.

Andy Bailes showed tremendous composure in front of goal, scoring his first after a fine move featuring Banks, Charlie Anderson and Dillnutt, his second came when he picked the ball up on the corner of the penalty area and dropped the shoulder to wrong-foot a defender, before rolling it home.

Banks wrapped up the scoring late on by blasting into the top corner to complete his hat-trick. James Wyatt grabbed the consolation.

Greg Bradbury gave Granby St George the lead with a crisp volley from 15 yards in the first part of a double header. Paul Cooper grabbed a rare goal from a tight angle to sew it up.

In game two, Triage recovered to score three times through Neil Roskilly, Ian Agass and Paul Chapple, despite going behind to Dan Pinkerton's strike. Si Longman pulled one back from close range before Cooper showed that goals come like buses as he amazingly equalised late on.

ProCladd conceded after raising only six players against Newcotech.

In Division Three, leaders White Horse grabbed a default win due to AFC Stevenage's expulsion.

Bottles Res just about stayed in touch thanks to Paul Dare, Neil Watson and Justin Brown's goals against basement side Athletico Timebridge in a five-goal thriller. Dave Herbert and Sam Delasalle replied.

Fox won a battle between the sides vying for automatic promotion. Kev Ward, Sean Wallis, Dave Dawe and Jan Pearce netted against a 10-man MC Racing for whom Steve Koop and Richard O'Donovan were on target.

A Darren Curry brace put North Herts Celtic in control.

However, Chequers turned the game on its head and took the lead through Carl Thompson (two) and John Mikel. Not to be denied, Trevor Cunningham grabbed Celtic a point from a goalmouth scramble after they had earlier hit the woodwork twice.

Twin Foxes took the lead just before the break in an even first half when Jason Aldridge finished well from a Rob Smith cross. It became a rout after the break; Aldridge completed his first hat-trick for the club while Rob Barnes lobbed home from 30 yards. Smith (two), Charnjit Singh and Pete Duffy put the final nails in the Rileys coffin.

In the Invitation Cup, Danny Bowey netted twice as Aston Athletic grabbed three points. Dave Sell grabbed the other from 35 yards, while Rapidsource's goal from Jon London was a consolation, despite their goal advantage.

Paul Gasson netted twice as Broadhall became the first team to make the April 29 semi-finals.

Darren O'Brien and Darren Westbrook also netted as they easily overcame their goal disadvantage against Breachwood Lions.
