The 10-game unbeaten run of Blueharts came to an end by losing 5-3 away in Norfolk against the league leaders Harleston Magpies.

Harts have notoriously started badly when playing away at Harleston, and it seemed to be the same old story when Magpies took an early lead.

However Harts bounced back almost straight away. John Barrett played a first-time ball into the path of Jimmy Lewis who laid the ball on a plate for Ashley Hammond to bury the ball into the back of the net.

The Magpies showed why they have a nine-point lead at the top of the East Premier A though, and stretched their lead to 3-1 at half time.

Harts started the second half with renewed vigour but two errors gifted the Magpies two extra goals.

Barrett was inspirational in galvanising Harts, along with some heroic performances by the two centre-backs, Matt Gardner and Gillan Ide.

Harts were awarded a short corner which resulted in a goal after captain Oliver Hammond hit a straight strike like a thunderbolt.

Joel Ide then scored his first league goal in nearly a decade, running the length of the pitch from defence to receive a crossfield ball from Barrett, before firing a first-time shot into the side netting to surprise the keeper and his own team-mates!

Harts plan to get back to winning ways as they host Wapping this Saturday.

Letchworth remain second in the league, just ahead of their own second XI, in Division Two South.

This is after a 4-0 win over Blueharts seconds thanks to a brace apiece from Scott Aps and Ian Heywood.

Dane Hirst scored the only goal for the second team in their 1-0 win over Southend.

MBDA disappointingly lost 3-1 to close league rivals Welwyn Garden City thirds and remain in relegation trouble.

The only real incident in the first half was Welwyn taking a surprise lead through an unfortunate error by the MBDA keeper.

Welwyn stretched their advantage after the break, sneaking the ball in past a well-covered post.

MBDA scored what proved a consolation, with Austin Mahoney deflecting in a Paul Lawman short corner, before Welwyn managed a third.
