One former Baldock schoolboy is following in the tyre tracks of Lewis Hamilton.

Toby Sowery won the Hunts Kart Racing Club's cadet championship at Kimbolton in 2007, matching his success of the previous year.

Hamilton won the exact same championship in 1995.

The 11 year old started karting when he was seven.

Toby lived in Baldock until last year when he moved to Melbourn near Royston.

He attended St Mary's Infant and Junior School and is now at Melbourn Village College.

This season he is racing in the BRDC Stars of Tomorrow Championship, as well as this year's championship at Kimbolton.

His progress can be followed at tobysowery.co.uk

Toby is shown (left) receiving this year's award from Daphne Freeman, the competition secretary at Kimbolton, and also in action racing at Kimbolton.
