Another home defeat gave the disgruntled Arlesey fans the Blues.

Only in the opening 15 minutes of the second half did Arlesey look likely to mount a serious challenge to the visitors.

Aveley were overjoyed as they recorded their first ever victory on their many trips to Bedfordshire.

The Blues badly missed the injured Matthew Clarke and once again their long ball tactics did not pay any dividends.

Aveley, who had only been beaten once in the last 13 games, were a workmanlike outfit who scored with three well-worked goals.

The home side nearly opened the scoring in the first attack when Idemudia Okojie got behind the defence with a left-wing run only for Aveley to clear at the expense of a corner.

Shane Brown then linked with Okojie whose pace took him goalside but instead of crossing for his rapidly arriving colleagues, he tried a near-post shot that Ramis saved easily.

Aveley took the lead in the 23rd minute when a free-kick from Maskell was touched wide by Skerritt perfectly for Barnes to take the ball in his stride and beat Jake Whincup.

The best home efforts came from player-manager Danny Honeyball.

He saw his curling free-kick pushed over by Ramis, and when Obi Nene cleverly won a corner, Honeyball went for placement and his effort ended well wide.

At the other end, quickfire play from Skerritt ended with Vaughan volleying well wide.

The second half opened with Arlesey on top.

Nene placed a cross-shot wide of the far post and the same player brought Ramis into action again, the visiting goalkeeper glad to concede a corner.

Man of the match Brown then delivered a free-kick to the far post that added to the corner count but the flag kick was easily cleared by the visiting defence.

In the 71st minute, Dasper, who had just arrived from the subs bench, ended a fine move with the spade work engineered by Vaughan in the left-wing position converting a chance from close range.

The confidence oozed out of the home side who now looked well beaten.

Lloyd Opara saw a shot blocked by the Aveley defence.

With three minutes remaining, the Blues rearguard was caught square for supersub Dasper to volley past Whincup for the third.
